Ford OEM CD Changer-attach to different head unit?

I have a Ford OEM CD Changer in my 98 F-150. The changer plays through the radio and the quality leaves a bit to be desired. (being VERY kind here)

I want to purchase a new head unit for my truck and am wondering if there is any way to get a changer capable unit that will control the Ford OEM changer.

Thanks in advance for any help

if the changer is FM modulated, meaning you tune to a certain radio station to listen to the changer and has seperate controlls, not on the head unit it should work on the same frequency with a new head unit. Crutchfield offers OEM changer adapters in some cases, but they can be pricey...also, remember the best way to get better sound is though more power. more power can make factory speakers sound much better. I drive the front door speakers in my ranger with an Infinity amp, and htey sound almost as good as the memphis speakers i have mounted in the rear. just a little advice.
