Wheels to clear brakes

I would do a search but my comp is acting up. I have an 80 F-250 with the dual piston front calipers (2WD). Stock wheels are 16.5. Will 16" wheels clear the calipers? I truck is a hundred miles from me so I can't measure. Last I looked I know the dust shield would have to be trimmed. I want to run some narrow tires (either 215/85-16 or 235/85-16) for this winter up front.

Anyone? Anyone at all? I can't drive the damn thing until I get a new setup. My other vehicle is going south fast so I need to get this truck up and running. One of the front wheels has a crack in the lip. All I need is a yes/no answer. Thanks.

16" wheels should fit just fine. Ditching the 16.5" wheels for 16" wheels is a popular swap for most people since the 16.5 tires are in limited sizes and getting harder to come by.

I'll take the 16.5's if you are ditching them.

16's will fit just fine.

Where are you located?

That's great new- I don't like using 17's. I'm located in Minnesota. I'll keep the old ones for spares. Thanks for the offer though.

Just watch because I have run into issues where an aluminum 16" wheels wouldnt fit because the aluminum is thicker than steel which equals less clearance. Not saying youd have that problem, but just something to check.

I'd planned on using steel wheels. I'm staying away from the traditional white wagon wheels because they tend to only have a 1500lb load rating. That's barely enough to carry the truck! I think i'm going with 16X7 cragar soft-8 (black) and dunlop radial Rover R/T in 225/75-16 front, and 235/85-16 rear. I'm trying to stick with narrow tires for better snow performance, and better gas mileage. Ideally, I want 215/85-16 all around, but is that "too narrow"?
