Exclamation stupid

Well, after almost a year with a bad MAF sensor I finally replaced it with a remanufactured one. When the parts man brought up a big box I thought WTF??? isn't that a bit of an overkill for a plastic piece less than 3inches on any side. It also contained the aluminum housing it attaches to. It was nice and shiny compared to what mine bolted to. Too bad that when they beadblasted it 'clean' that the beads wrecked the screen.
I pulled my housing and cleaned the intake screen of the oil ect. from a previously installed K&N filter [not of my doing], mounted the new MAF sensor, reconnected the battery that had been dissconected for over a half an hour, and away I went in less than 15 minutes install time.
I don't quite understand the reason for requireing the housing that the MAF sensor mounts on. If was for quality assurance when it left the re-mfg place then they sure dropped the ball on this one. To protect the sensor itself? It seems to me that a simple tube over the elements and inclosed in a properly fitted box of a far smaller size would have sufficed, using far less energy to manfacture and ship.
Oil, it's squander it world wide for no apparent reason.
The change starts with you questioning the reason for such a waste.
At this rate gas will be $10.00 a gal. before we wear out our rides because we can no longer afford the gas to wear them out.

When gas gets to the point where you can't aford it, then for sure it will come down. OPEC can't make any money if they aren't selling oil. The problem is the poorer people like me who allready can't aford it.

Wendell, I'm in the same boat. My origional post had to do with return of the aluminum housing, which wasted packaging and increased the cost of shipping in both directions.
To some people money isn't an issue, to you and I it is a major issue. My wages aren't even coming close to increasing at the same rate with the commodites rise. Thus I have less to spend on gas. Making 12,000 a year this bloody hurts. While other posters may have cut their vacations down to 2,000mi, I've cut mine down to 30mi. I watch fools blast past me to slam on their brakes at the next light and cringe, knowing that my gas cost will rise due to their inconsideration.
Not everybody is rich.

I hear you partner, I'm not even taking a vacation this year. For one, I can't aford to and #2, I'm trying to help conserve by staying at home more. However my efferts are in vain if others are wasting fuel while I'm trying to conserve. I know how hard it is for us, to think about people who even make less money, it has to be rough. I never thought that I would see a time when the amount of gas I use in a month exceeds the amount of the monthly car payment. I picked a bad time to relive my youth by buying a mustang GT and it would be gone except for the fact, that if you drive it right, it actually is pretty good on gas. I've been getting 24 mpg driving to work, one tank last me 2 weeks now. It use to only last a week when I was driving a bit more spirited. I still can't believe there are still those on goverment that say we shouldn't drill because it will take to long for the new oil to get to the market. The rummors alone of new oil will influance the market, not to mention it still needs to be done just to have our own oil in the future. It should of been done a long time ago. I heard just today that Iraq will start producing more oil as I believe thier the key to our current mess. We have some control and alot of influence over there and they owe us. Thier 2nd in oil reserves behind sudie and thier allready pumping. So they could be a major factor in upping our supply untill we get some more holes punched over here. It's not only the price of gas, the gas prices are forcing everything up, it's even getting to expensive to eat. I cut back personally so my family has more at the table. I'm a conservitive, but this is one time where politics needs to be set aside and both sides need to work together to help us, the people. This tree hugging doesn't sound as important when people are starting to go hungry and are struggling so. Mcain and Obama both have money and talk about spending millions on thier campains, while we would just like to pay our bills and eat. I can't aford to drive to the next county as they fly all over the country. I hope they truely understand our pain and as senitors, they could help us now, they don't have to be president to do something. The biggest thing they could do to help thier election is to try and help us now as senitors, as could Hilary and the rest. They need to get thier butts up on the hill and start brain storming on these problems, thats what we pay them for. I'm just tired of being tired, we need some help here in the heartland.

I'm not going to hold my breath on that happening anytime soon with what is a 2 party system and only intersted in paying off the special interest groups... they owe their pound of flesh to those who got them elected [read $$$], and that isn't you or I.
