tire size

what up fellas. Im new to the truck and off road scene but not new to fords. I got a 11 sec mustang also. But anyway heere goes: I have a 93 f250 with the 7.5l. I was wondering what the biggest tire i could get under it without a raising it up? Any help and some pictures would be great.

Thanks

I put some LT 285 75 16 all terrain tires on my f250, see sig, its a Dana 50 front end. However, they did rub on the front bumper a but, so I put two lock washers on each of the four bolts that connect the bumper to the frame (this spacing it forward about 1/5") and raised it up as high as it would go. Doing that, they don't rub at all, even with the suspension completely maxed out. Gives me enough ground clearance to get over some pretty tricky terrain, nothing crazy, but fun to play around with.

I take it your 93 is a 4x4? There is a difference as far as clearance goes...

If you want to go bigger, consider switching to a Dana 60 front axle, or at least plan on replacing your 44/50 when it breaks if you are doing serious four wheeling. Casual mudding and things of that nature won't kill a TTB, but crazier things can.

Also, you can go a bit larger than the 285 if you notch out the bottom corners of your bumper. However, once you get bigger... You run into wheel-well size issues, and need a lift.

Oh, One more question about those tires. Did you put them on the stock wheels?

Yeah, they are stock wheels, 16" rims, 8-lug, which I assume yours are.
