window wont go down....

electric window on passenger side will not go down..swapped out all 3 relays under dash. fuse is good.both window switches have been replaced...i get power to the motor both up and down but the motor will only go up..took window motor out replaced with another motor..same thing. window up but not down using the passenger side button..pass window doesn't work at all with driver button...jumped the motor wire on a battery..the motor turns both ways..if there is no other relay or fuse hiding some place I'm left thinking its GEM...I'm going to try to unhook it..I have heard it can reset its self doing this..I have been pulling 1300 codes for door locks..wiper motor and windows ever since I have owned the truck..2 years now..never a problem till a month ago..any one have any ideas? if I get a used GEM..can this be dropped in? or does it need to be programmed?? thanks guy's...

The service manual says the GEM must be configured on installation.....but I have also read that it can be reset by simply unplugging it. Definitely would be worth a shot IMO.

i cannot remember for the life of me, but since its a DC motor they reverse polarity on the switch, get DMM and check if you get 12v on the motor if you hit the switch both ways, but only a little minus will change on DMM,teling you that polarity had change.
if you have any Q call me and i try to help you....

Wiring in the door jamb ok? I've fixed a lot of problems by going into the boot and patching a broken wire.

thanks a lot for the kick in the pants to look further into this...before i removed the boot..i thought all the wires would be taped together like it is in the door..after i removed the boot from the driver's door..i found all wire's are exposed and the blue/red wire was broke...fixed it..all windows work..man i miss hearing that 6 inch tip playing its tune...now i have 2 spare switches and window motor with track for the passanger side....thanks for the help guy's....

Its good you found your problem, I usualy jump right in go right past something simple and look at the hard stuff to later find out it was simple...

I kinda figured it it might be a wire after looking at the wiring diagram for the power windows. The GEM would have affected the power circuit to all of them and not just one. I tried to post the diagnostics for the power windows from my Ford repair dvd, but am not computer savvy enough to convert it to a pdf file.
Glad you got her fixed.
