The heck with these horsepower wars. A truck is made to haul and pull things and look good doin it. If you want an f-150 to race against the yota and the new ram get an older lightning.
I would to dont' get me wrong. Thats if the 6.2 boss would have come out. It looks like this aint gonna happen anytime soon. Hey we can always put on a Roush supercharger....
Can we all get over the 300 I6. Yes, it lasts forever. Yes they are slow. If they brought it back and offered it against anything out right now, I would not be buying it just like I wouldn't buy it vs the 5.8 when it was out or even the 5.0.

No, we cant. I love mine darn it. As far as slow, Id love to see this engine get the head reworked and get a turbo!! That would yield some mileage.
Somehow I bet the Dodge still won't beat the Toyota on a dyno.
You may be right - but about two years ago when they standardized HP claims I think it was Toyota that had to down size their horsepower (eat crow) more than any other manufacturer.
thats sad, yet the f-150 with 310 HP and 370 ft pounds, still out hauls in everyway! 390 hp and it has 407 torque my ***, why so much hp to produce the torque, thats got gas guzzler all over it.

Because the 5.4 3v starts to choke as the revs go up, it just can't get enough air, and torque output just drops off. On regular gas the 5.4 is rated at 310HP @ 5000 RPM, and 365 ft-lbs @ 3500 RPM. The 09 Hemi is rated at 407 ft-lbs @ 4000 RPM and 390HP @ 5600.
At 5600 RPM the Hemi is still putting out 365 ft-lbs of torque, at 5000 RPM the 5.4 has dropped to 325ft-lbs.
You apparently still are not getting it, 3.55:1 gears and 20" wheels and the RAM's tires are nearly 32" in diameter. That will CRIPPLE any kind of acceleration. Put some 3.55s and 20" wheels on the tundra and I'd bet you see things change quite a bit.
The 3.55's and 20 inch wheels is the absolute worst gear/tire combo dodge offers for accelleration and towing. 3.92's and 17 inch wheels is their best combo. Another factor that has nothing to do with engine horsepower is the transmission gear spacing. The Dodge really does need a 6 speed auto to maximize the power it has. I think ford did an excellent job with their new 6 speed auto.
I see you over looked the fact the Ram has 3.55:1 Gears with 20" wheels, while the Tundra has 4:30:1 Gears with 18" wheels.
A 2009 RAM R/T with 4:10 gears does 0-60 in 5.7 seconds.
The R/T I read that had this setup was a RCab. So take a few tenths of a second up to a second off that time for a Crew Cab setup, simply due to the weight factor.

Too bad the F150 isn't offered with 4.10 gears for '09+ F150s (stock). Well, except for the upcoming Raptor.
But will agree, the Ram Crew with 4.10 is more than likely quicker (actually is quicker) than the F150 Crew with 3.73. But think the Ford 6spd will make up a good portion of the lost axle gearing hp/lb-ft difference.

You are the one who isn't getting it. The Tundra with 3.55s and 20" wheels would STILL spank the Ram.
You can attribute 3, MAYBE 4 tenths to the gearing disadvantage, beyond that, there is no excuse. The Tundra is damn near a second quicker than the 09 Ram!
The Ram is 200 lbs. lighter than the Tundra from the get go. PM loaded 1,000 lbs. into the Tundra's bed and it STILL outran the EMPTY Ram. Make all the excuses you want, but I called it and PM confirmed it.
I bet a SBRC 2009 F150 5.4 4x2 with 4.10s (home installed) would be within tenths of the Ram R/T. The Ram isn't the only truck that will respond favorably to a lot of gear coupled with the lightest body configuration.
I also bet the Ram R/T loses to a SBRC 5.7 Tundra 4x2 with 4.30s. I've seen those trucks go LOW 14s bone stock in that configuration (figure 5.2-5.4 second 0-60).
