manual hub with 3 bolts?

When I bought my 97 F250 some months ago it was equipped with 2 different manual 4x4 hubs. Want to buy a new pair but see that all hubs come with 6 bolts, the ones on my truck have only 3 though??!!. Anyone else has these on his\ her truck, any idea what type it is as I couldnt find anything on the battered hubs.

Get a nice set of warn premiums.
I've never seen a set with 3 bolts on it.
The warns have 7 I belive.
The premium hubs have a better locker device.
But what is inside the hub determines the amount of screws that are suppose to go in.

You'll need a screwdrive and a lock ring pliars to take everything apart. And a set of alan wrenches. =)

If you pull those three bolts out and pull the cover off you will see where you could put six bolts in there if there were holes in the cove. Those bolts dont have anything to do with the strength on your hub othere than holding the cover with the **** on.

When you get new hubs you will get that whole pice that the cover screws on to. So, It dose not matter that the new hubs you get have the same number of bolts.

Stock manual hubs came with 3 bolts holding the dial. I dont see the point in buying warn premiums, the standards are a little less than 200 and the premiums are almost twice that. All the internals are the same.

Problem is that I am in Europe at the moment and want to take the hubs from here back to Brazil (where the car is). So cant take a look if there are 6 holes underneath. But anyway, according to the replies I get the idea the hubs will fit anyway. Does anyone know the typenumber of the WARN Hubs which fit the 97 model ?

Im pretty sure you need the 30 spline. If you get a price for something around 80 90 bucks they are wrong. they should run around 200. Ill see if I can find the part number.

laf. You guys are great.
I bought my warn premiums for 110.
Do I need to find the recipt?

here it is right here.
86.28
list was 120.785
XWN 20990 Premium Hubs

Everyone is correct though
The bolt numbers do not matter. They just hold the cover on, and all the cover does is engage or disengage the sprocket inside over the spline of the drive.
I'd trust a 6 over a 3 any day, but unless there is damage to the hubs, do not worry about it.
Also, if you buy a hub set, you will not just get the covers, you'll get the actuall lockout inside as well, which you'll need the tools for.
Standard warn hubs I think are 5/16 Alan. Mine are some stupid number, and I don't have a socketed drive for them, it sucks.

If your worried about hubs. Go and check out my thread in here where...
Shazbot. The pictures would all be down now.
Stupid friend. Changed the redirect of the domain to a google page, now all my pictures dont work.

The lowestIi saw was 184 I think but it was on a site that didnt give ma a warm fuzzy fealing inside. But on 4wheelparts I think i saw that for 195 and I would gladly spend more money on a site I can trust. Advance Auto Parts (Auto Zone) wants almost 300 for the Premiums and little over 200 for the Standards.
