My older engine was 16 mpg, but it was running extremely inefficiently due to the low compression. It should be 22 plus with the new motor and its 9 to 1 CR. Truck has been lightened to 2750 lbs, and 3.00 rear. Very mild cam.

Mileage

Had a 55 T-Bird 292. 2 bbl, 3 spd overdrive and consistantly was in upper 20's when on the hwy. Later had a 56 with dual quads automatic and 14 was about tops, but the 56 was more fun to drive!

My 61 f100 with rebuilt stock 292, 2bbl, 3spd, 2wd and 3.70 gears ran about 20mpg and that was with me rebuilding and adjusting the carb at age 15. I would imagine it could have done better if I had know what I was doing or paid someone else to do it who did.
