1985 F-150 Distributor.... HELP

Hey folks. I have a 1985 F-150 with a 5.8w engine. It had the EEC distributor, and elec 2bbl carb. I have changed over the intake and carb to 4bbl. I am now in the middle of changing the distributor over to the Duraspark ll. Here is my question, how far should my oil pump shaft go into the distributor shaft? My eec dist shaft is about a half inch longer than the duraspark, but the the hole for the oil pump shaft in the eec dist shaft is also half an inch deeper. The measurements of both distributors from the base(where they sit on the block) to the bottom of the cam shaft gear, are Identical. According to my measrements, my oil pump shaft will go into the new distributor about 3/8 to 7/16 of an inch. Is this enough?
