If I had a 4.9 block with relatively low miles (in terms of 240/300's). I probably wouldnt do anything.
Change the oil/filter...do a compression test and check oil pressure, if they are within reason, Id run it as is....but thats me. If you wanna tear into the block and do an overhaul, knock yourself out.
If your interested in HP I think your easiest approach would be to convert your efi block to carb. Simply swap the carb/intake/distributor over to the efi block. Keep the efi exhaust manifolds, just because they are better than the stock single outlet exh manifold. Unless you plan to use long tube headers, then stick them on ebay.
I would keep it efi for a couple reasons. One being its the mass air version. Two being, your content with mild stock. Three being, you plan to modify it and use a standalone efi controller.
As far as the C6, if it has the small block bellhousing (302/351w) and or was originally installed behind your carb 300, then yeah, it will fit, just use the C6 flexplate. If you plan on keeping the efi engine fuel injected, then you will need to be sure you have the correct throttle linkage/throttle body to operate the C6. Same applies to the carb setup, if the C6 wasnt originally behind your carb engine, youll need to be sure you have the correct linkage to operate the C6.
You didnt specify which engine the F250 was currently set up for, if it was anything other than a 300 engine, then you will need engine frame mounts/towers, specific to the 300 engine.
What hp and tq will it produce? Stock engine = stock power
