66f-100 is starting off with a positive reputation.
two '66 questions

OK, first question is where is my spare tire supposed to mount on my '66 F-100 styleside. I don't see any mounts in the bed area. Does it mount underneath?

Second question: I just replaced the headlight switch and wanted to make sure I had it in there correctly. Does the headlight release button on the switch point towards the driver's side? I didn't pay attention to the orientation when I removed it.

Thanks,

Mark

There's a T shaped crossbar held to the frame by two long bolts. The spare rides above the bar, the T portion fits thru the center of the wheel. The jack and lug wrench fit inside the spare wheels rim.

The headlamp switch knob and shaft release button points straight up.

See the dash illustration and all the switches, knobs, radio, heater etc. here: Body Section 030 / Page 8.

See the entire exploded view of the spare tire carrier here: Chassis Section 14 / Page 5.

These illustrations are from the 1964/72 Ford Truck Parts Catalog.

A CD version of this parts catalog is available from hipoparts.com (also sold on ebay), for around $22.00.

I know that on my 66 the tire hanger was still under the back edge of the bed, I even have an orignial spare wheel and tire to go in the truck when I get her finished.
