Happy finds while diagnosing starter problem om my 92

My 92xlt truck wouldn't start after driving, shut off motor, no start. Happened to my wife and then it happened to me on Friday while at the Auto parts store. I wait about 5 minutes open/close hood and it fires right up. While I had it jacked up I changed the oil and started inspecting the undercarriage. Found the starter to be a loose wire. I was also very happy to find a semi-new starter, a new 5spd. Ford factory transmission, new 02 sensors, new exhuast and come to find out I have a fairly new radiator, water pump and fan. I am a happy camper . I have added a headache rack all I really need to do is replace my leaking freon hoses, accumilator and retrofit r134a and I will really be cool with my ride.

I changed starter. Cranked cold engine only. Did nit start hot engine. I learned that when starter was hot (manyfold is close) it did not crank engine becouse armature isolation was bad, and when it was hot it was soft and moved under load armature shorted to ground.

Later I changed armature in this starter and now it works too. I have spare one now.
