Hi guys, I'm new here and loving the place. My brother has a 2003 or 04 and when he hits a bump, it quits. It'll start right back up again, or even refire if you've got your foot far enough into it. He's had it in the shop twice now, and they've replaced the cops and plugs, but they don't know what's wrong. The check engine light isn't on. Could a faulty CPS do it? He's heading to the mountains fishing in a few days, and he can't understand why I can just fix his truck like I used to do back in the '70's and 80's.
A different guy worked on it yesterday, and as soon as he took it out for a drive, it started showing a code. He replaced the #6 cop, and that's all it was. I can't quite figure that one out - how one missfiring plug could shut the whole truck down.
Yep, I just talked to him again, and it still quits when he hits a bump. He just left for the Rocky Mountains fishing, and if it quits him up there, I'll be going with a trailer to get it, cause the towing bill would cost more than the truck's worth...
I read a similar post the other day. The problem that truck had was a faulty Fuel Shut off switch. E=When in a collision, the switch is supposed to trip and cut off the fuel supply so no fire starts. That may be the problem.
