Trading my 5th wheel trailer for a 2006 Forestriver Lexington 283GTS motorhome. It only has about 7,500 miles on it. Probably messed up in buying a 4yr/48,000 warrenty for it, but like insurance you never know when you'll need it. I had planned on getting a newer 3v V10 with the 5sp auto to pull the 5th wheel.
You will be impressed with the 2V v-10 in your new coach. I know my 31' Jayco will flat fly down the road from one gas station to the next.........LOL!!! But for real, it does a fantastic job of what ever you ask it to do as you are traveling down the road.
Enjoy your new coach,
Jon
Thanks, for the reply krewat. It's a E450. The quick look I took of the engine area only showed the big Air Filter housing - everything else was buried behind it. If the transpattern is D,3,2,1 does that make it a 5sp Auto?
Just curious, was your Lexington build on an 06 Ford chassis or an older chassis? It is not unusual for the model years for the coach and the chassis not to match. My 05 Jayco is on a 2004 chassis.
Not 100% sure about the year yet of the chassis. I think it's 06, but I'll as a few more questions and see if I can find out the exact build date. Picking it up Friday, when I have time to tow the 5th wheel I'm trading in to the dealer.

I think you'll be happy with this drivetrain. The 4 speed 4R100 is a solid transmission and the 2 Valve V-10 is still a great engine. The 3 Valve V-10 eats more fuel and I've heard conflicting reports here on whether or not it lives up to it's gaudy HP and Tq ratings. Enjoy your new toy.
There should be two different VIN's on the Class C. One will be for the chassis the other for the conversion to a motor home. There have even been a few conversions where the chassis and the conversions have not only been a year apart but by as much as two years apart. Just make sure you register and insure it as the conversion date, which would be the newer of the two.

It has the 5spd Torqueshift. Ford put the Torqueshift in the E-series Vans around 05' but the 2V V10 remains in the E-series even to this day because of fitment issues with the 3V.
