Plus I replaced the vacuum solenoid ($33) and that has ended the excessively loud engine knock under heavy load at operating temperature. It has a full 1 YEAR warranty.
I suppose I could have spent $116.75 from the dearler for one in a Motorcraft box that comes with a whopping 30 DAY warranty. Then another $98.67 for the vacuum solenoid also from the dealer and that too only has a 30 DAY warranty.

Sounds like you played your cards right and saved some good cash.
FWIW, Motorcraft/Ford parts come with a 1-year warranty
if they are installed by the dealership. (The labor is also warranted for a year).
