7.3 weights ?

Hi can anybody tell me how much more the 7.3 weights then the 460 engine? Also if puting the 7.3 in a 1979 F-350 does the springs need to be beefed up or anything else?

Thanks Rory

The 7.3 weighs around 960 lbs. I believe that is dry. I'm not sure what the 460 weighs but I'd say around 700 lbs.

The OEM springs on the diesel were not heavy enough to begin with. I've seen the springs sag in the 80's 4x4's with less than 20,000 miles. A 79' has almost 30 year old springs. I think I would replace them, beef them up at a minimum.
