Question CB Antenna Question

I had a 4 foot CB antenna installed in-between my bed and cab that only extends about 4 to 4 inches above to top of my cab. I can recieve, but I can't transmitt hardly at all. I was told my antenna was too short for transmitting because of interfearence from the cab. Would I get any better results using a 7 ft firestick instead of the 4 ft antenna? Will a CB antenna installed in-between my bed and cab work at all or do I need something longer? If so, where can I get a longer antenna. Right now, I am just using a short magnet mount antenna on the roof to keep from tearing up my radio.

Having your antenna right behind the cab is not the ideal location. A taller antenna will help but the best location is in the center of your roof because the roof makes a good flat groundplane for the antenna.

I have used a K-40 antenna on my roof in the past and it works great! Also Wilson makes great antennas.

If you have a truckstop near you go check them out because they should have a good selection of cb radios and antennas that they sell to truckers.
