how do you remove the black staining on the steering wheel?

I have a 99 with the tan leather, or at least feels like leather steering wheel, my problem is it is caked in black who knows what from the previous owner where his or her hand would be, kinda nasty looking and wanted to know what works for getting this crap off....thanks!

Some window cleaner or simple green AND KEEP ON RUBBING. Give that a shot. Had my share of funky wheels. Good luck.

Hand Cleaner on a rag works well.

Simple Green is the best way to go, then apply a small amount of Aromoral

Step 1 Make a clean bath towel damp (but not dripping) with water
Step 2 Drape the towel so that it covers the guages
Step 3 Spray Fantastik or 409 on the offensive wheel
Step 4 Allow to soak for 30 seconds (if it is really bad you can use a toothbrush or scrub brush to clean before the next step)
Step 5 Gently rub with the damp towel using the towel to line your hand
Step 6 Wipe with a clean section of the damp towel
Step 7 Apply interior dressing of your choice, or don't

These days we apply very little dressing on the interior since we have found customers don't like it.

How did you come out on your paint problem?
