Kinda unrelated, On the old 88 F150 the Front and Rear brakes were isolated, is this the case with a 2000 Super Duty?

Hypothetically a front brake hose gets cut, do I still have rear brakes?
or the opposite, rear brake line rusts out do I still have front brakes?

Yes but very little braking power and only at the last like 1/10 of brake peddle travel.

make sure they are coated braided lines. Debris gets in the braids and rubs holes in a liner of conventional braided lines.

I ordered a set of 5 kit, 155.00 or so shipped. I don't worry so much about the typical 3 hoses on a brake system. I would almost be inclinded to split the rear brakes hyd. and make each rear hose independant off the frame to caliper. I think I'll be ok with the 5 hose kit from Russell SS braided.

I got my Russell kit # 696490 and the box says for a 4 in lift, although, the description doesn't state that? I don't want pigtails on my hoses. I'll let you know next week, Artie

Make sure you follow the directions for mounting them, don't (like I did) mount them the same way the OE lines came off.

They're tough *******s, I love mine so far.

OK this is a really old thread but I printed it months ago and just had to say - great information once again. I did this today took all of 10 minutes, went about 1 full turn and brakes are much improved! Thanks Monsta

Wow learning something new. I will be trying this. Sometimes it is nice when someone revives an old thread.

I did braided lines but not the nut took me a couple hours but I was doing the parking brake shoes (due to the parking brake spring exploding) and new hub seals bearings etc.... I am not sure I would want to adjust the nut my brakes feel very solid.

Ever since I have owned my truck the brake pedal goes almost half way down before engaging. I have had all the brakes replaced, fluid flushed and still never got a good pedal. I have had everything inspected and always told everything is ok. I have had a couple times where I almost got in trouble because of it. I am thinking this is the next best route.
