Brake Light Socket

Where can i get a brake light socket for a 92 Aerostar. I checked a few places online but the pictures they show is different than what I have. Neither of my brake lights are working. On the right side if i press on the side of the bulb the brake light portion works but if i tap it it stops. The parking lights work the whole time. Thanks

You can get them from a junker vehicle. Otherwise, I'm not sure what to tell you.

I would be surprised if a socket for a Bronco II or Ranger did not fit. Do you have a picture of your lens socket?

No I do not have a picture of them, but I do have the sockets out of a doner vehicle. Not sure what shape those are in but I guess I will need to find out. In worse case I will try to retro fit some LEDs in there somehow.

Sounds like they are dirty or corroded. Try cleaning them up with a wire brush or some sandpaper, then apply a small amount of dielectric grease to the contact areas.

Do they look rusty? If so, you may replacing them in 6 months time again because you might have a leak in the tail light. After you replace them, check the seal...

My right light one would leak just a little whenever I filled up the rear windshield washer fluid. A little caulk cured that...

I think we've covered the retrofit LED bulbs here before. In general, they are terrible for replacing standard bulbs; they do not put out enough light, and they do not have the proper distribution.

If you want to install LEDs in your brake or signal lights, you should design something that will work with the housing and lenses, like the manufcturers do with their cars.
