Door latch/release '92 f150
I have a 1992 F150 XL, this morning I went to open the door to get in, no click when you press the button on the outside door handle.
So I climbed in via the passenger door, wouldn't open from inside either, the inside handle at least unlocks the door, but it will not open.
Does anyone have any idea how to get the door open?
I can't get the panel off to see what broke till the door is open.
The door hinges were a little sloppy from wear, but it would close tightly.
Would a slim jim get the door open?

Loosen/remove inner panel - read this post ( https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/6...lock-help.html ). The procedure sounds a bit messy but it may give you enough clearance to look inside the door and get it opened.

I had a similar experance with my 92. The latch assembly was rusted and seized up. The cable for the inside handle broke and the door would not open. I took the passenger side door panal off to get an idea of the workings of the latch assembly.Open the window, then look down in the window channel between the glass and the outer door skin at the latch (rear of the door), you will see where two rods hook into the latch. Take a long 20-24 inch headlight adjusting screwdriver and push down on the rod attachment point and the door will open. Good luck, Bob

It turned out that the door hadn't closed completely, not enough for the lock mechanism to release completely, I was able to pry up on the bottom of the door and slammed the door with my shoulder, then I heard a click... then I could open the door.
All in all its not too bad that the doors hinges or bushings are worn, the truck has over 253000 on it.
Still runs and drives like new.
