Oil Leak at Crank Position Sensor (CKP) .. anybody had this?
Anybody have any experience with an oil leak originating from the Crank Position Sensor (CKP)?? If so, how heavy was the leak, where was the "trail", and where did it drip from?
I'm not 100% certain my leak is coming from the CKP (going to verify with Tracer Dye first); however, the sensor "is" oily and the oil-trail/oily-grime leads from the front right of the block (the location of the sensor) all the way to the rear of the block with a drip or two from the bell housing. The trail pretty much follows the bed plate/oil pan line. The block is pretty clean north of the bed plate. I'm hoping it's the o-ring on the CKP, 'cause the alternative is probably the bed plate!
So .. the service manual instructions "appear" to be pretty easy to get a new o-ring on the CKP. However, I read that some have had to remove the A/C Compressor to get at it. Has anyone actually performed this repair, and can maybe offer some advice?
