Swapping a 300-6 from an '89 with fuel injection

I am going to be swapping a 300 six from a 1989 F150 into an 1986 that has a bad 300 six with a carb. I already know that I am going to be swapping the engine harness and computer over to the '86 but what I need to know is will I have to swap fuel tanks or will I be able to modify the one from the '86 to work with the fuel injection. Thanks

Has anyone done this swap before or done a conversion from carb to EFI? How much trouble was it? Was it worth the swap?

You will have to swap tanks. You might consider doing some body or frame swapping, rather than the engine swap. The wiring is different, including some of it in the cab, so some of the 86 cab stuff is not going to work with the 89 wiring.

Or, you could strip the fuel injection stuff off the engine, and install it in the 86 and use all the 86 stuff and engine dress.
