Welcome to FTE fordman bigd

I did not see your engine size for the truck you are asking about.

Use a Motorcraft oil filter and if possible Motorcraft oil.
If there is a Walmart near by they may carry both items.

Filter 4.00 and oil about 2.70 a quart.

3x, stick with the Motorcraft oil filters, they have a check valve to keep the oil from leaking down on shutdowns.

Agreed and I get the same package, think my dealer calls it the "Works" package.

Cost a little more, but just don't have the time to do it myself anymore.

Exactly! For that Price... why bother doing it yourself... and they always give the truck a quick wipedown of the interior and vacuum....

Most new Fords are designed to run lower weight oils. Even the V10s require light oil.
Lighter oil is better for flow thru passages and helps with HP. Of course there are many more reasons for lighter oil, these are just a couple.
Just use what Ford recommends for your particular truck and you should be good.

Dang, my dealer just did this same service yesterday. Used to be $42, this time they charged me $47. Might end up finding the time to do it myself if it continues to increase like this.

My Stealer doesn't charge me for the "extra" 2 Quarts. The package fine print states it covers 5 quarts during the oil change... so the $5 increase might be because they are charging you for those "extra" 2 Quarts

I understand the additional cost for anything over 5qts. But the price for every works packages I've paid in the past was $42. Only the most recent service was it charged at $47. So this could be the reason, but can't see why they wouldn't have charged for the additional qts in the past.
