Unhappy 85 dash pad

Anyone know where I can find a tan dash pad for my 85? Ford dealers sell them but they are 500 bucks and only come in gray. I havent seen anything else but those Coverlay overlays which I don't want to use. Of course junkyard trucks all have trashed ones. Any ideas?

Or you can paint the Ford one with a vinyl color spray, to match.

If the dash pad is not too badly damaged there are ways of repairing them, either by hire, or do it yourself kits sold in stores. One is usually expencive, and the other doesn't always give you satisfactory results.

The overlays aint half bad if you dye them and use something to hold it down till it dries(foam cushions) against the window works great and they look good at least the ones i;ve did ....

NPD (an fte sponsor) sells a dash topper. it fits well, but mine (blue) did not match color perfectly. maybe you can find a color match paint if you are picky. pull original pad off, trim and glue down out of vehicle. $87 and change. Be careful of pads you find at the junk yard, sometimes they look really good, but are very thin and brittle and will fall apart immediately!
Good luck

No one makes an aftermarket dash pad. Charcoal from the dealer or junk yard are your only choices.

Trust me, I've looked every where.

I may have a spare saddle tan dash. I'll let you know tomorrow.

The only padded dash available for 1985 (and 1986's) is Charcoal, the rest are obsolete.

E4TZ1004282B0P .. Charcoal Padded Dash (note that the Ford part numbers suffix is B0P, not BOP)

MSRP: $488.57 / ftepartsguy.com price: $351.77

Two Ford dealers in the US show they have a quantity of one each of these charcoal padded dashes:

Sopp Ford in Los Angeles, and Grande Ford Sales in San Antonio TX.

Sorry, I can't do that. As a favor, a former co-worker gave me the access code. I can't share it.

I actually cheaped out and used a rear speaker grill from an 86 Escort, didn't look to bad but the only place mine was torn out was the speaker opening.

I gotta see that. All the aftermarket door panels I've seen are over $100.

Vinyl spray paint works great...I looked all over for a decent pad and the only one I could find was red. I sprayed it with a few coats of gray vinyl paint and it still looks great after over five years.

If you look in the classifieds in this forum, under 80-86 parts and vehicles for sale, you will find ads from 5/15 and5/16 from members parting out their vehicles. You might try contacting them and see if either has a dash pad worth using. I bought mine here for $30.00, black and perfect, and plan on painting it blue along with most of the interior parts. It's worth a shot, and as far as spraying the color on, at least one outfit offering aftermarket door panels, (I think it may be JC Whitney), sells black and charges $10. more for colors and states in their listing the colors are painted.
