Factory Tow hitch on 05' SuperCrew KR tow rating?

Hey guys,

I'm new here but I just bought a 05 King Ranch 2wd Crew cab and mainly to get out of my dually and its diesel fuel. I pull a 6000lbs bumperpull trailor and I used to use a simply aftermarket hitch on my Dually to do so. Well when I bought my 05' off the lot I saw the receiver under the bumper and assumed it had one already on it and got the truck.

Well, when I crawled up under it this week for some reason I noticed that it was actually part of the bumper but did have bracing going to the frame like other receive hitches. But now I'm worried that its like a factory bumper and I'm going to rip off my bumper if I try and pull my trailer with it.

So, does anyone know if this factory receiver hitch is like a class 3 or 4 hitch? Or is it simply like a bumper and I shouldn't use it for pulling my large trailer with and should buy an aftermarket unit to go under it.

Also, if the second is true and I need to buy one what do I do for this one? It appears to be made into the bumper and the bumper has a reverse alarm and it is color keyed, I'd hate to have to remove the bumper to put a new receiver hitch on the truck.

I maybe a little out of sorts as I'm sure some aftermarket company makes a hitch designed for this if it is true so please excuse my ignorance about it.

Thanks for the help!

Question? Does it it have the 7way trailer plug? My factory hitch with the tow package it a class III, but it looks like a regular receiver hitch. I think it is rated at 5000/500 unless you use a wd hitch and then I think it is 9000/900.

Yes, it does. I did some research into this more on this forum and it refered to the owners manual. I went through it and found the truck is rated to tow upto 9000 lbs as it has the 3.73 and the 5.4 on the 139wb. I saw a sticker under their the other day but didn't pay it much attention. I'm going to crawl back underthere today and see if I can find out more about it.

Thanks, Doug.
