New owners have all manner of ads hitting the site, even non-automotive related ads. If you go over there watch how long it takes for the pages to load.

They have put some new rules in place and hack off a lot of folks, lost a lot of the old tech info.

I can only speak for the 94-97 section, but most of the old hands that were the real experts are not there any more.

Used to be the when something was posted in the 94-97 section and no one responded it was off the 1st page in a couple hours, now I see posts with no responses on the 1st page for a day or two.

I am afraid that is the direction of the "free" sites. Get the site where it is being hit a lot and then sell advertizing until the hits go away.

10bands is gaining momentum as a positive member of FTE.
I'll put in another plug for sending in the $20 to support this sight. Gets rid of all the banner adds and underlined/popup words in the threads. All that is left is the text list of sponsors at the top of the page and one little banner for the sponsor of each particular forum section. Besides, I've probably saved a few thousand because of the information on this site. I did still get the PM ad though.

Just in regards to receiving PM's that are advertising related.

We have had the feature to "broadcast" PM's now for some time, and we have used it in the past to communicate good deals that sponsors offer to our user base.

With regards to advertising - we are consciously aware of advertising, and how it affects your online experience, and we endeavor to ensure that what is done in terms of revenue generation to cover costs for bandwidth/servers etc. impinges in a minimal fashion. As such we provide options to avoid most of our advertising (amongst a variety of other Club FTE member exclusive features), and for those that have been willing to take up being a supporter it is humbly acknowledged and appreciated

We also currently have a unwritten rule that the broadcast PM feature would be used no more than once a month to communicate good deals.
Given that the last time it was used was well over a year ago (guessing here) I couldn't envisage us ever coming near that current imposed restriction.

Thanks for your understanding, and if you have any questions - please ask,
Adrian

And what Adrian didn't mention is that FTE isn't going anywhere.
