i had 43 pounds, and my truck didnt run for crap until I hit about 65 fuel economy wise. I dont really understand why siince its within spec, but I saw mileage jump from about 420 miles per tank, to over 450 a tank, and its never been under that since... Been almost 9 months of that too, so it wasnt winter blend difference or anything of the sort.

will fuel pressure decrease with a leaky fuel pump?

I thought about the FPR. I just put a new fuel bowl & FPR in about 10K miles ago. I hope it's not clogged already.

Seems backwards that low fuel pressure would cause low economy. I'm sure there's a good explanation for it. Something to do with power curves?

So I checked my fuel pressure and mileage again. I got 19 half highway and half city. Go figure. That's pretty good, IMO. My fuel pressure was at 57 idling. Do you guys think it would be dangerous to do the FPR shim at this pressure? Does the pressure increase with RPM's or does the regulator keep it constant?

Not a problem with 57, the magic number seems to be 75 psi without any trouble. And the pressure increases with RPM´s.

Hey, Roentgeep, did you notice a difference when you installed your HPX?

Yes, less engine noise, better idle and maybe a better throttle response.

I've even tried to keep my foot off the pedal. Any ideas? Fuel delivery? drivetrain?

I think I'm going to check my drum brakes for a stuck piston.
Ever think that you keeping your foot out of it to much?
now that you have a straight exhaust your truck is going to sound louder, making you think that ur in it more than you really are. I know with my truck and my dads we get better mileage if actually keep our foot in it alittle.
Just a thought.

I watch the RPM's to know how much I'm in the pedal. That way I'm comparing apples to apples
