strobing stop/turn lights

i saw a pickup with a flatbed the other day. whenever he hit the brakes the brake lights would strobe/flash 5 or 6 times then come on solid. i think they were LED lights. i see the same thing on ambulances. where can i get a setup like that? is it built into the lighthead or is it a controll box in the cab mabe? i've looked on google and i can't find anything. i don't even know what you would call such a setup.

There are several ways to do that. Probably one of the cheaper ways is to go to a motorcycle shop, most should offer flashing LED brake lights that fit into the stock sockets. Then there are companies like NAISSO Impala SuperStore Parts and Gift Catalog that have an item called a stop alert, which will let you adjust the flash frequency and duration.
