Easy job turned into big pain...help please!

I was replacing the water pump on my truck cuz it had been leaking...I went to tighten a bolt down and I don't know what happened but a bolt broke off down around the threads(and it was the last bolt too ), so I got everything torn down so that the broken bolt is sticking out of the block(tried the 'extractor' or w/e u call it to no avail so i took the front cover off for better access). Now I try to go at it with the vice grips, and it won't turn...all it does is the vice grips jus spin around on the remaining part of the bolt...anyone had this happen? or jus know somethin i can try? Any help is appreciated...thanks

Do you have a small propane torch? Use that to warm up the area AROUND the bolt and it will usually unscrew. Is this a 302 or FE? Not that it matters, but usually the 302 has issues with the long skinny bolts for the waterpump, as they get rusty from water and get really thin and break.

Alright, all I got is a little butane torch/lighter, would that work? I do have a propane torch i found at a g-sale but it doesn't actually seem to work...should i just spring for a new propane torch? or try to fix this one(if so then does anyone know what i should check on it to see why it's not working)?

A new torch is cheap if compared to taking the truck to a fixit shop.
Sounds like you need a new torch anyway. Good luck.

What doesn't work? Gas doesn't come on? Won't light? If it doesn't have self ingnitor...they can be picky to get to light. Too much gas on and it will snuff itself out. Just crack the gas and try.

Make sure the can has something in it? Then maybe just buy a new head for it(with self ignitor), as it is alot simplier then lighting with match/striker.

Channel Lock makes a curved jaw set of pliers that are made for stud pulling. The harder you push the handle the tighter they grip. Much better than vise grips.

well the welding the nut on sounds good...i simply lack the welder...and the whole knowing how to weld thing

and as far as the propane torch I have, i could hear the gas flowing, but nothing seemed to be coming out, it lit just fine when i took the tip and the lil nozzle(?) out...and once i got it to light that way...that was pretty cool for a pyro like me...haha...but I found a new one with an igniter at sears but it got too windy so I'm gonna give it a go tomorrow.

thanks for all y'all's help!
