Ball joint Questions?

I'm getting ready to change the ball joints in a friend's '04 4x4 6.0L with 87,000miles.
Are there tricks/tools needed besides a ball joint press?

Any help would be great!!!

Thanks for the info! It looks very helpful!

My mechanic said something about a special tool to break the vacuum seal
on the 4wd hub assembly, is this necessary?

I don't think you need any special tools for breaking the vacuum seals, I didn't when I did ball joints on my 99 7.3 and I've never heard it mentioned anywhere else either.
