Anyone else have probs with Level Kit?

Hey guys,

Its like the title reads....I guess it not huge issue.....but still an issue. I have had my level kit on for the past 1yr 1/2 and have noticed the camber on my wheels is off just touch. Primaely becasue it just puts the CV Joint at such a angle that it's prob not good for the front and I think it may have also caused my tires to wear slightly faster.

My alignment is fine and it not that big of issue but would love to find a way to address this issue before my next set of tires? Anyone sell like a spacer to lower that front differential like 1/2" or any other ideas would be much appreciated. Thanks.

Matt

What size leveling kit do you have? Maybe you can try a smaller one. You'll have to get a suspension lift if you want to lower the front differential. (It is too close to the driver's side lower control arm pocket. That's the piece that has to be cut off on the kits that are most used... procomp, rancho, rcd, fabtech, rize... etc.) I didn't really have any issues on the 2.5" leveling kit I had. I ran it for about two years and did have a CV boot tear... but not 100% sure it was the leveling kits fault.

hmmm....yeah mine is 2.5" as well....Sounds like I might just be stuck with the prob. Like I said its not to aweful bad. If anything I have noticed now that my suspension has started to settle more the rear is almost sitting lower than the front. Might look into fix for that....

I've had my 2.5" kit on for about 3 yrs now and my tires wore perfectly even. I've not noticed any problems what so ever.

sounds like your alignment is off. the leveling kit can be 100% corrected in Camber.

the leveling kit doesn't affect left to right on your alignment. My tires are perfectly aligned and they're wearing great.

are you sure it's the alignment? what type of tire do yo have? and what pressure do you run? I run 44-45 psi on my Wranglers (LT tire). under-inflation could also cause the effect your describing

I think my pressure is good. I run 40psi on 325/60/18 Nitto's Terra Grapplers....I fairly confident that about the correct psi for them or ateast it what I read on the side of them....Like I said it no a crazy amount of wear on either side just notiable. I have also always made it a pont to rotate them about every 3-4k miles which has helped out a ton as well...

when i put my leveling kit on and did my alignment at work the camber was off ...but when i adjusted the toe it just went in to factory spec but not by much...but most shop just set the toe and nothing else if it out...now to fix factory camber you have to buy a camber kit from napa so you can adjust it in to spec

what you do is replace the bolt in the upper control arm with new bolts that have egg in like shape washer...now that will let you adjust the upper control arm to get camber and caster..for some odd reason ford doesnt use the stock like gm and dodge
kit prices are like 25-50 dollars
but a good way to know what your aligment is did u get a print out of the new spec?

Def going to look into this....I didnt get a print out or anything.....It was done at a fairly redneck shop up in KY so I dont think they even printed anything out.

Thanks for all the info...

if you get a good kit then you will be able to adjust the lower bolts into spec just fine... no need to mess with the upper arms. i have a set in the classifieds that i removed from my truck when i installed my lift.
