92 Explorer 4x4 differential and tranny questions

My dad has a 92 ford explorer 4x4 auto. I was wondering if there are any negitives to using mercon V syn. Or what should I use. The other question I have is what weight differential fluid should I use and how much of each. The Front is Dana 35 ttb, and the rear is Ford 8.8 I believe. Also is it ok to use syn ATF in the T-case as well? Thanks.
