AC Clutch Test

How do you test the AC clutch. Which relay is the AC relay? I have jumped out the low pressure cycling switch and the clutch did not engage. I was going to just hook 12 v to the clutch itself to check it.

Thanks for any help.

sounds like you have a low charge, check for power at the clutch with a test light

Our trucks don't show a relay for a/c. Fuse #1 on the inside fuse panel is for the HVAC panel, But if it's blown the blower won't work. Fuse #5 in the same panel is for the clutch, But if it was blown the fuel tank selector won't work ( keyless entry & security won't work if equipped) Check for voltage at the clutch switch & then check the high & low pressure switches (l/p on the accumulator, h/p on comp. Plugs have been known to go bad on the switches. I think if you had a low charge jumping the L/P switch should have turned on the clutch regardless of charge.

I was having trouble with my clutch staying engaged so I cleaned both plug ins on the compressor and haven't had problems since.
