Max tire size for stock 06 f150 4x4
Hey folks, got a 2006 F150 XLT 4.6L 4x4 truck. No leveling kit or anything special, just stock from the show room floor. What is the max diameter tire that can be installed without needing to modify anything? Next question is what has to be modified to go a size bigger? Thanks, -blake

31.8" (roughly) tires come stock
a 33" tire should fit with 0 or minimal rubbing
get a 2.5" leveling kit to fit a 35x12.5x 17/18/20
AutoSpring_2.5"_Leveling_Kit - Easy and cheap to install
I've got pics of the kit installed in my gallery...only stock tires/rims though

sold my old 97 6" lifted stick shift F150 and now have a 2006 like the one which started this thread. Want to do the same thing. We have worst roads on earth on this island and i want plenty of rubber between me and the road. Thanks for the advice on what to get. What i want is where to get it from. I don't want to order online. I want a shop's number where i can order the rims, tires, spacers, and leveling kit. Any advice for a good place in Florida?
Thanks, eli.

I just had the 305/65R18s installed on my '04. I have a leveling kit and aftermarket rims and I still had rubbing. I had to trim the black plastic that is in the back of the wheel well. Nothing major but I don't see how they would have fit without a leveling kit. The size on those tires are 33.8 tall by 12.1 wide. I guess they would fit without a leveling kit but you would need to do more trimming than I did for sure.
I honestly don't see how people are fitting 35's with just a leveling kit. There has to be some serious rubbing or at least more than I would find acceptable. I guess if the truck is used as a pavement princess you would not have any troubles but I don't see how it can be effective off-road, IMO anyway...which on the grand scheme of things really means jack s**t.

hey Brian, I test fit the Toyo 35x12.5x18 back in Oct with the 2.5" AS installed. I had 0 rubbing issues. Didn't pick them up though because of the $1200 price tag for 4 of them...and my stockers looked brand new...darn wife
I think those Coopers you tried had too much side lug. Extreme side lugs will cause rubbing issues with stock rims

Man I don't get how you guys have no rubbing, I even have aftermarket rims even though they don't have a major offset it is still more than stock.
Tylus you are right though the side lugs are what rubbed the suspension. I think I could have went with the Nitto TG 325/60R18s but I wanted more tread depth than it offered.
4Doorsr, man I don't know how you have no rubbing anywhere. I don't rub anywhere but that back plastic in the wheel well at full lock, I should say did rub since the tire guys did a great job doing some trimming.

that explains it...the slight more offset your aftermarkets have is pushing the tire to swing more than OEM rims. with OEM, they only rubbage is on full compression and full lock at same time.
I just found a freaking nail in 1 tire about 1 hour ago...makes me wish the tires on my Black thing had deeper lugs...wonder how much the flat is going to cost me
