Strange Starting Noise
When I don't start my truck (07 F-150, 5.4L) for over 24 hours I get a weird sound when I start it. It sounds normal cranking but when it fires up and I let go of the key I get almost a short (1 second or less) grinding type sound... similar (but not quite) to the sound you might get if you tried to turn the key when the engine was already running. Then it will not make that sound again unless it sits for a day or more. Any ideas? TIA

I have had the exact same problem. I noticed it about two weeks ago. The truck did it two days in a row. After letting it sit for a while, I would hear the noise. If it turned it off and then started back up, the noise was gone. It only happened those two times. It seems to have stopped for about a week now, but I'm worried that something is about to break. I've had enough trouble dealing with the dealerships in the past few months, I'm sick of it. I have the motorcraft filter and everything is completely stock. I have the 5.4L V8 with 16,400 miles, scab 4x4 XLT.
