Not sure if it's been here long enough for you to remember -- it's Winkler Auto on E. Diamond Ave.

I was just thinking, If you weren't happy with the inspection, you could do 2 things,
1) Go to another inspection station or
2) Call the MVA and speak with the State Trooper in charge of inspection stations in that area, He will be there with the original inspector and if the things that failed the first time still fail than at least you know he did it correctly.

I remember George Winkler. I haven't been around there in years. If you want to try another inspection place, I am a State Inspector in Westminster and I'll give you an honest inspection of the truck if you wish.

Thanks for the suggestions, Paul. I think I am going to discuss it out with the inspector regarding some items that shouldn't be an issue like the seat.

The inspection itself was okay for the most part. The guys did a good job finding issues. Some I simply don't agree with like the seats. A little out there? They also did not like that the driver's side of the bed had a long crease. It does have issues that does need to be addressed. Guess I'm just miffed it's not up to snuff like I thought it'd be.

I'm deeply discouraged it had so many issues that I thought there weren't. I even drove it on long trips without issues at all. It will take quite a while to fix all the issues and have it pass. Plus, it has been passing PA [where it's from] annual inspections forever.

Yup, that's him. He still is there, although I haven't seen him wrenching lately. I think his son runs the place now.

Thanks for the offer, Paul -- think it still would fail. It does have issues. Just found the parking brake cables are frozen.

Since we live in a heavy rust area, how do you determine whether to pass or fail for cars that has rust?

If it is on the body any sharp edges, holes, parts falling off generally.
9 times out of 10 and I have done it put duct tape on it.
You can also do a little quick body work but if it is in a wheel well make sure you do something with in there also.

The only rust that would fail in a truck is in the cab itself, cab corners, rockers, and anything that is rusted through. The bed can be rusted through,
creases don't fail in any bed as long as there are no sharp edges that can catch clothing. believe it when I tell you I had the same problems as to what passes and doesn't pass when I started inspecting cars. Any way I was just offering another opinion. If you have any questions let me know .

Evening Dave, I have been super busy the past 4 days. 14 inspections in 4 days, I'm worn out. Still have 4 more for tomorrow.

Dave & Paul, good to hear that.

The body itself is pretty much rust free so far from what I've found.

However, the radiator support has rust on both of the edges. Is that bad enough to fail? It is a concern to me, and I was hoping I could replace it with a solid core. Another area where rust claimed a victim is the support bar where the rear fuel tank mounts to. I do want to fix these. I'm just hoping I can find a replacement for them. But I'm far from a body man. I can get pics of the rust areas if visuals are needed.
