Under Hood Connector Trivia....

Was checking my oil and such today and found two connectors that look kinda odd. I was wondering if anyone here knew what they're for... Thanks in advance

First... I found this one on the driver's side mounted to the radiator support....

Then there's this one that is one the driver's side, back closer to the firewall...

Both those connectors are used for factory DRL's (Daytime Running Lights) on Canadian and Fleet vehicles. The connector pictured at the top is where the resistor installs and the connector pictured at the bottom is where the relay installs...

Yep, its simple plug-n-play. If you want "proper" DRL's that operate at 80% brightness, you need the relay and resistor. If you want DRL's that operate at 100% brightness, you only need the relay and you would add a simple jumper wire where the resistor installs. This is a good option when running bulbs such as Sylvania Silverstar's which do not like to operate at reduced power.

Parts...

DRL Relay: 2C3Z-13B218-AA
DRL Resistor (Optional): 6C3Z-14A601-A

The only thing that is not included is the bolt and nut/clip that mounts the resistor to the radiator support.

Be forewarned that many dealers will try and sell you a DRL kit that is a Genuine Ford "Accessory" instead of the OEM parts used at the factory. Do not do it. It is a generic DRL kit and requires cutting and splicing of wires. I have no idea why they do this when the factory plug-n-play parts are available and much easier to install...
