ibleedblue1385's Budget Beater Build

The budget 4x4 beater begins...

Picked this late 70's beater up for FREE. Was sitting in the local farmers field. I know the guy so i stopped and ask...he said its all mine if I wanted. My brother and I have been looking for a good candidate and I think she fits the criteria (cheap or free). My plans are as follows:

1. Get it running. It supposidly ran when it was parked. He said throw a battery and some fresh fuel in her and it should fire.

2. Build some beefy bumpers for the front and rear.

3. Find a cheap set of tires to get us by. Probably in the 35" range, the truck wont be lifted (not yet anyways). Preferably some sort of m/t, tsl, or bogger.

4. Get it cleaned up and ready to go. Replace any bad parts such as brakes, bearings, etc. Basic tune up.
5. Beat the heck out of it!

Upon a quick exam this is what i can tell you...

Dana 44HD front axle. I was hoping for a 60.... C6/np205
Dana 60 rear...

351M/400. He says it a 400, headers a bonus...

BONUS. Green shag carpet!!!

Anyways more pics to follow. I might try to get it running tomorrow and bring it home. Any suggestions or opinions are helpful. Lets hear what you think...

Sweet. Budget builds are always fun. I'd go with either the 36 or 37 hummer tire if you're looking for tires on the cheap. Should fit with either no or very little trimming.
