6.4L MPG tips
Sorry for being the new guy on the block but here in the not to distant future, after i join the navy, I will be investing in a 08-10 F350 super duty king ranch SRW 4X4 auto trans, its will be custom order and already looks to cost around $65,000 fully loaded. this is mainly because I want a truck that will last forever and i will be happy with in the future when newer trucks come out, I have also heard that they do make desent famliy trucks, since I will be takeing this truck across the US to naval bases and home. I was wondering if there where any tips for getting better MPG, breaking the warenty isn't a huge deal for me because I usally don't have problems with new trucks, mainly because i don't run the hell out of them often, and when I do it is short and far in between and usally isn't extremly demanding, don't get me wrong she will be a work truck but for the next 4 to 6 years she will go through a good, long, and easy break through period consiting of mainly interstate, city, and "one side of base to other" uses. I was wondering if there is any Tech packages that may help or if i could do something to the engine that would do the same? and to ask if anyone hear but me seems to have a problem with ODD year trucks, in my famliy we seem to have better luck if a truck was built in 00, 02, 96, 90 for example. all ODD year truck have had a run of bad luck for us. 97, 99, 01 for example. it may just be a stupid supertistion for our famliy.

Play nice boulder. The guy can ask whatever he wants if he feels so inclined.
unit, just search a bit, and you'll find out that it all depends on engine, gearing, how you drive, etc. More info on what the truck is loaded with will get a better estimate. Don't feel bad about asking, thats pretty much all that goes on here. Welcome aboard!
As for your odd or even? I dunno, my 02 Ranger had issues, my 07 PSD is awesome. My dad's '00 Exped has been flawless, the brother's '05 150 has been perfect, and the '04 Escape my Mom drives is the best of them all. But superstitions have their place.... I swear that every box of Federal 12 ga. I buy totally kills my skeet score, and heaven forbid I hunt with them. I'd starve if I had to depend on them. I buy Remington out of stubborness.

Military buy
747,
I bought a loaded '08 via Military Overseas Sales. I saved over 20K from your estimate. If you are joining regular navy, expect to deploy (a lot); while on deployment you will have the opportunity to buy from this program.
I'll make some assumption here, but my recommendation is wait until you know your deployment schedule.
The benefits would be:
1. You'll get a better deal with the overseas program. 10-20% off all options, and $4000-7500 rebate depending on deployment location, and FMV current offer. Probably better APR once your on active duty.
2. Your diesel won't sit for 6-12 month while on deployment, or no need to worry about some one else using you truck while your away.
3. Further improvement in after market products and mileage and as the 6.4's are refined.
4. There's also the possibility the F-150 4.4 (due out in 2010) may suit your needs for a much better price.
Good Luck and thanks for your service.
