This is the first I've heard of a new F-100. It's probably a way to try and compete with the Dakota and Toyota in the mid-sized catagory. Not a bad idea--I know I feel pretty cramped in my Ranger after I drive my 79 250 all weekend.

While on the topic of new designs, has anyone heard anything about a new Bronco? I saw pics of a concept a couple years ago and it looked like a modernized EB, but have heard nothing about it since...

yeah that Bronco is ugly. I saw it on one of the administrators galleries about 3 weeks ago. Ford will never bring something like that back anyway 'cause you can't beat the original Broncos for nothing. even if it does have a back-up camera, tire pressure monitoring, auto dimming headlights, and other stuff like that.

Ford could bring the Bronco back, but it wouldn't be as functional/hardcore.

They brought back the Thunderbird.....

The concept isn't bad(looks wise....looks like an EB), but it wouldn't need the glass roof, it would need a removeable top, a frame designed for it, not based off an escape (LAME), and a desent engine.

I too hope the new trucks or Bronco don't look like that! I'm afraid their going to screw it up no matter what they do--but the article I posted the link for links to another article (at the bottom, where it says "Autosavant") that outlines some improvements to a possible new Bronco. Sounds much better than the 2004 concept. That page can be found below, in case you missed it.

I wish the F100 would look something like the F100 in Argentina, Basically a F250 with a 3.9liter 4 cyl Cummins, it would be pretty cool.

That's terrible, wouldn't fit into the lineup correctly.

I had a Ranger in 2003, and it was just a little too small for me. Great truck, but if a F-100 becomes available, I'm sure it would outsell the Ranger and would let Ford compete with the Tacoma and Dakota.

The 6.2 will only be available in the F-150 rapter, the rapter will be out next fall with the 3 valve 5.4 and the 6.2 will be available by winter. The 6.2 will be a 5.4 replacement in the super duty with 400 hp and 400 foot pounds. I just read the raptor test in my latest edition of 4-wheel off road magazine. The current ranger will hang around untill 2011 and be replaced with a compact 4 cylinder based world ranger in 2012. The F-100 will be body on frame mini F-150 with V-6 and V-8 option and will spur an off road bronco on the same plateform with removable top and solid axles front and rear.

I had a '90 Ranger. I bought it because it was built like and rode like it's big brother, the F150. No cheap looking gauges or flimsy quarter panel braces like I saw in the S10 or Nissan. I was in the military and the Pensacola Ford dealership gave me a great deal on it. For a single guy, it was big enough to haul all my stuff, yet small enough not to break the bank in fuel and maintenance. If Ford can really create the F100 to be a 'mini' F150, a tad smaller and more fuel efficient, then I think they'll find more than enough buyers. That's my two cents worth.
