Towing Limit

What is the towing limitm, legal and safe, for a stock '97 truck?
Also what about a modded truck with intake, DP, and intercooler, with attention not to blow the tranny?

Its really more about stopping the load rather than getting it going. You also need to look at each component of the rig looking for the weakest link. Dont for get to look at rating for tires, the hitch, the recevier, and the ball. Or the goosneck ball and platform. Not all recievers and ball hitches are not equal and Ive seen some pretty overloaded parts

X2 on the stopping part. I think my truck could pull a house down but stopping it would be a differnt story.

In my owners manual it says I can pull a gooseneck a little less than 14k lbs. It also makes a big difference if you have 4.10s or the 3.55s in your axles.

He didnt even say if he hd a 3/4 or a 1 ton did he? BIG DIFFERENCE there.........
Second, it doesnt matter what you mod to your enginem or tranny, important componets when towing SAFELY is hitch tire and axle conbos. You could put a series 60 detroit in your truck, but it isnt going to haul 45k.

See in your sig that you looking for a edge evo. I got one I will sell you. Let me know

I am mainly looking for a product that will give me all my data (egt, tranny, and boost) electronically and in one unit. I can't find one or maybe the SCT Livewire. SCT hasn't given me a straight answer yet.
Does anyone know of a such a product?

Does the insight work with our trucks? I don't think so and Edge said we lacked the right pins on a '97?

I am not familiar with the dashhawk. Where can I find info on it?

YOu need to find out what your GCVW. For that year and truck is. Since it is a 4x4 with 3.55 If you have a owners manule it will tell you this. When it comes to GVW it is all rated on braking,Suspensoin,Tires.. Does not matter how much HP you have..

The guage that Tim just got does pretty much everything, and its only $250 which is a pretty good deal IMO. I cant remember what it is called but it will come up if you search it, it was only a few days ago.
