Any decent shows this spring/summer?
Are there any decent shows coming up? I live just north of Milwaukee and would like to find a couple of shows to go to but with the price of gas I, like most you, have to stay close to home. One show I will probably travel for is the Dash to the Dells in September but Iola looks out of the question. The only shows advertised in this area are the big dealer shows and I really don't like those, too many rice burner and goofy over modifieds. I would like to go to some nice smaller shows with every day type of old restored cars. I know there are quite a few in the farther reaches of the state, in the small towns, but again, too far. Is there some within 50 miles northwest of Milwaukee?
Thanks,
Thanks,

Yeah, Iola is a good show but I don't think I'll go this year unless gas goes down. I would like to find a shows that are held in small towns. I run across them once in a while driving across the state. Unfortunately, when I do find them I'm with the family going somewhere and don't have my truck and don't have the time to stop and spend a few hours. My wife and kids don't really enjoy the truck hobby so I reall don't want to take them, all I hear is a bunch of whining and complaining and then I also have to contend with the kids.

im not sure where you are-but Fort Atkinson has a car show 2x a month in the city park. last month there was a 140 vehicles- lots of old with some trucks, a tractor or 2 and a couple of motorcycles at times. Big Bar ice cream, cheap food and even cheaper beer- $1.00. great time, nice shaded park. next one is June 17th. another good one is the 4th of July in Grafton- darn good fireworks at night then too

Fort Atkinson is just a bit too far, I'm just north of Milwaukee, not too far from Grafton. I'll have to do a search and see if I can find details on that one.
Like I mentioned in my original post, I have gone through small towns in the states they just happen to have a car show but I never have the opportunity to stop and check them out. The small town shows seem to get a lot of old restored stockers, the bigger shows get the customized and rice burners. All the ones in the Milwaukee area are sponsored by the big car dealers. The little shows that were held 10-15 years ago died out.
There are a few places that have cruise nights, those are just as much fun as an actual car show but they're at night and I don't always get home in time to drive to them.
If anyone is interested in cruise nights I have gone to a couple that are pretty decent. Wayne's in Five Corners in Cedarburg on Thursday nights is really good. You have to get there early because it really gets crowded. I also went the the one at Georgie Porgie in Racine on a Saturday, very good turn out.
I just did some surfing and the Waukesha Old Car Club has a very good site with information about shows and cruise nights:

I belong to the Kiel Custom Street Car Club. We put on a show in August every year. This year it is on August 17. Have a cruise the night before to benefit the Children's Hospital of WI. Usually get around 250 cars & bikes for the show. Check out our website customstreetcarclub.com. It isn't updated though. We are having issues with that. I can mail a flyer if interested. Andy
