Rear window mystery, I'm baffled.

I can't get the back window on my 93 Bronco to work. I replaced the front switch, tested the back switch, and the motor runs fine in both directions when I put 12V to it. I've checked the wires for continuity all the way to the front switch. If I give it a ground wire at the rear switch on one side it will work one way. If I give it a ground on the other side it will work the other way. If I add a ground at the front switch on one side or the other it will work either way. It's getting 12v power all the way to the motor but without a secondary ground source it won't work. I've had the plugs apart behind the gas tank and at the firewall. I've not found any shorts, dirty plugs, or broken wires. I'm baffled.

The ground circuit goes through the front switch, if the contacts in there are worn/burnt/dirty neither switch will work. Mine was doing the same thing. I rewired my back window by adding two relays. The back windows works better now than it ever did. If you want some details, let me know.

Might have a bad ground, the switch reverse the polarity to the motor so the window goes up and down. From the testing you did there is power, but no ground.

I'm sure that's the problem, I can't see where the ground is from on the front switch end.

Mine did exactly the same thing,
I finally tracked it down to the connector
between the motor and door latch.
Itook out that connector and installed a
new one and it works fine.
