Super cab rear door rattle.

Ok.....I am abount at my wits end. The rear doors on my super cab rattle like there is no tommorow. It is the panels rattling. There has been a lot of discussion about the doors and the way they latch being the problem with the typical rattle and cluck doors.

Has anyone taken off the panels to see if they can be dampened in anyway? Where are the fastneres keeping the panel on?

I am about to take the panel off and leave them off. Some days I laugh, some days I cry, and some days I get pissed off.

My truck has 90K miles on it and they have clanged and banged since day one.

Any info is great.

My truck does the same thing when I hit bumps. I have a friend with a supercab, when you open the back doors, there is a chunk of rubber his back(little) door rides on. His truck is a 2000. Does anyone know the PN# for these cushions? This makes the door panels loose, and then they rattle all the time.

Check the spot weld at the lower front corner of the rear door. This spot weld tends to break loose and the door starts rattling. I drilled mine out and put in a couple of rivets and it held together for a year or so until my truck was totalled. I would bet this is the source of your problems.

Is it the actual door jumping around? Which could just be pins and bushings. Or is it something light inside the door hitting the metal while you drive? If it's inside the door and you bought it used. Someone may have performed the lock actuator surgery on it. And in doing so may not have retired/fastened the power wires that had to be moved. They could be tapping the door. Also it could be the handle and lock rods were not put back on right and are tapping against the door. I know this because I did my door locks and my rear passenger door rattles now and it drives me nuts. It's on of the rods hitting it. Maybe that helps.

Mine move around because the rubber pad , or whatever its called , is missing. I need to get a PN# for it. The pads keep the door from bouncing up and down. It gives the door something to rest on. Eventually not having them will create more problems. I checked my doors and nothing else is physically wrong. My friends 2000 xcame with them from the factory, so they do exist. Nobody at the dealer beleives that, but i take the dealers opinion with a grain of salt.

I purchased my 07 F150 supercab a couple months ago. My doors rattle when hitting railroad tracks etc... I figure because there is no center posts that the body flex is causing this. Thinking that maybe with the door rubber starting to wear the doors are flexing enough to get the bangs and rattles. Was interested to see that there could be rubber missing to support the doors. Maybe this is my problem also. will keep informed about what I find out.

My 08 F-250 does the same things and the door rubber is worthless on these trucks. Anytime offroading the mud and dirt get passed it. My buddy put different rubbers on his and it worked. But the door stops on mine are still there.

My 2011 when it was brand new rattled. It was the back right door. I tore that thing apart and even removed the seats and panels. It still rattled. I stuffed insulation, padding, and even went as far as to put springs on the loose door linkage. It was better but still rattled. I did the Epic door seal modification and WALLA 99.9% of the door rattle was GONE!

Go to the Ford body shop and get a part number from them.

My 04 did it and the bottom spot weld broke free, a drill bit and a bolt and lock washer fixed it.now the rattle is back, looked yesterday and where the bottom door latch bolts on, the door metal has cracked at all three bolt holes! So now the only fix it to grind down the pint weld her up and grind it smooth and then body shop for paint, most likely 1500 dollars because Ford feels that 40ga sheet metal is OK to use as an anchor point for door latches

I took the bottom anchor latches off and turned them around. When putting them back on I kept it as tight as I could pushing towards the interior while I tightened the bolts. I also took a hammer to the top ones. Only hit it hard enough to move it back slightly. If it drops a little just tap up till it looks like it is in the same height as before. This stopped my doors from jumping around when hitting bumps. My passenger side still needs a little tweaking. Will try using a drill to egg shape the holes in the anchor latch so it will move in more.
