Hi my names Adam from New Zealand.

If possible could someone help me out. Iv brought a 2002xlt 4x4 Ford f250 from the insurance company as my dad had a crash and has been paid out and has brought another f250

Im wanting to rebuild it, basically just needs a tray and a new cab.


Firstly could i bolt a say 2008 cab and tray onto a 2002 chassis.

Secondly if i brought a 2002 cab are all the bumpers lights,grills interchangable so i could have a 2002 truck but kitted out with 2008 parts on it.

Also the truck ive got is a extended cab ..but im wanting to put a double cab (4 doors) onto the chassis. Are the double cab mounting in the same place as the extended cab.

Any info would be great.

 

Depending on what the 2008 was in New Zealand maybe. If it was the same as the us remodel then not really.

It is possible to change out the beds without modification. But the cabs will not switch unless they are the same configuration ie super cab to supercab, or crew cab to crew cab. And wheelbases don't interchange. Each configuration had its own specific wheelbase. So if you start with a regular cab long bed, your only option is a regular cab longbed.

Headlights and grille are very difficult to fit to a 2002 body without extensive modification of the fenders and bumper.

Bumper well not mount up without the rest of the front clip.

Thanks so much for the info. we dont have many spare parts down here in new zealand. So id probably buy a truck from the states and ship it down then rebuild the truck

or else swap the steering and dash into the truck i brought down if i could get a double cab. as our steering is right hand drive.

Do you know if all the steering systems are the same in the f250 trucks ..like a steering system in a 02 bolt straight into a 2008 or 10

And is there a place i can buy dashboards etc.

The 2008 remodel changed essentially everything. Everything can be made to work, but you would be better off just buying a Crewcab 08+ truck and shipping it over.
