Aftermarket Airbags
Hi all,
I am a 16-year-old kid looking for a truck. My mom says that it has to have at least a driver's side airbag. THis is a problem because if I want a diesel, there is no way I could afford one newer than '98, when they started putting airbags in at the factory. I was wondering if there is an aftermarket airbag (safety, not suspension) kit, or something like that that I could buy. I was looking around on the internet, and apparently there was this company in Florida in the 90's called Breed Technology that sold kits that were entirely contained the the steering wheel- sensor and all. But, I think I read that they went out of business.
Is there anything I can do?
Thanks,
Jack

Or just get the sticker... Or did they even have stickers? Probably not...
But seriously, respect your mothers decision...
For what its worth, I'm pretty sure that the sensors for the airbag are under the front clip, and I think theres two of them, one on each side.
The other issue with this is there is no way of really knowing weather the whole setup would actually work without simulating a collision...
