Question Ehx. Smoke!!!!

HI ALL. YOU WILL HAVE TO FORGIVE ME, BUT I MOSTLY SPEND MY TIME ON THE IDI PAGE. A GUY I KNOW HAS A 1990 BRONCO MAN.TRANS 351ci. AND IT SMOKES LIKE CRAZY... AT IDLE AND DRIVING.... IT IDLES SMOOTH AND SEEMS TO RUN REAL NICE...I WAS JUST WONDERING IF THARE ARE SOME THINGS THAT WOULD CAUSE THIS WITH THE FUELINJECTION OR COMPUTER STUFF.......BEFORE MY FORD I HAD A CHEVY... SO I KNOW NADA ABOUT FORD FI. BRONCOS...............PS THE SMOKE IS BLUE AND IT COMES OUT THE PVC AND FILLER HOLE........(SORRY FOR ALL CAPS BUT I DIDNT WHANT TO GO BACK AND RETYPE THIS WHOLE THING...LOL...) THANKS FOR ALL THE HELP...S.P.

sounds like a hole in a piston. What does the smoke smell like? Fuel? Oil? Antifreeze?

THANKS FOR SUCH A FAST REPLY.... that sounds about right...smells like fule to me...I think you hit it on the head.....it got hot and he checked the rad. verrrrrry low he added water to it (hot) I told him to stop,and wait for it to cool but water was leaking out the bottom of rad....OH and the intake hoses/air filter and butterflys have oil/gunk all over and in them...

Yeah. You definatly have a problem. He's got real bad blow by. Meaning the compression rings are not doing their job and the compression is leakin into the combustion chamber and out through the PCV valve and breather tube. Or worse he has a hole in the piston. The only thing that I am confused about is the radiator thing. That is not a good thing obviously but usually when that happens you blow a head gasket and not the whole engine. But if he was running it crazy hot for to long the oil could have broke down and the pistons scarred the cylinder walls and damaged the rings. I would start by getting a compression test done.
