Carb Question

Just replaced a Holley 4180 with all the emissions crap to a Holley 4160 S. I noticed that the kickdown linkage engages much more often then before. How can this be adjusted?

1986 Ford Dually f350 with a C6 Rod style kickdown lever.

Thanks

Hold the kick down lever in the WOT position (counter clockwise as far as it will go). Hold the Carb throttle lever in WOT position.

Insert a .060 feeler guage between the throttle lever and adjusting screw and check/adjust for proper fit.

Needless to say, perform with engine off.

Check the attachement at the tranny and see if you can adjust the rod at that point.

You are missing parts then, because all C-6s had kickdown levers.

I've never seen a Holley made for a Ford motor with a C-4 or C-6 that didn't have the adjustment screw on it. Never heard of a 4160S carb either. Maybe you mean a Holley 4160 series carb and the list number is 1850S. 4150, 4160, etc are carb series numbers which designate whether the carb have a secondary metering plate (4150) or not (4160). The List number on the air horn is the actual part number of the carb, like 1850 or 1850S.

It's a 4160 and it does have the throttle for the kickdown lever but I don't have anyway of adjusting it. There is a seperate kit you are supposed to be able to get I believe it's a 20-40 (Holley Number) but I'm not sure. Thus the reason for the question. I cannot adjust the kickdown linkage any other way unless I have the screw that should be on the carb but isn't. Thus my question.
