Blitz Black?

Blitz Black?
So, got my 65 truck about ready to run the roads...engines all new and good shiny...getting the rest of the drive train and suspension sitting right... Bout ready to start the body...going to buy new front fenders...have my hood professionally straightened and blocked...buttt I dont want to spend 10k on a paint job...I realllly dont care about the color...I just want it to be clean. low. shiny 20 and 18 inch wheels. and a lot a go. SO.. I have heard alot about this Blitz Black paint, and what I hear is that it easily applies...I dont want to use the john deer hardner ...I want a slower hardner..I think that this satin look will be a good look for a few years of me getting the truck up to the level of where I think it has nothing left to do but a expensive paint job. I hear the paint is VERY durable. crap its a tractor paint. What do you guys know about it.??

I don't know bout the blitz and I've been looking around the net for some paint ideas for my old truck and ran across this link. I've never tried it, my wife wants to give it a try on the escort we have...looks like it would take about a week or so to do right. Might be an option.

yeah the price is about 24 dollars a gallon! I sprayed some on a a junk fender and let it dry...now its no fancy pants paint job...but I will of done it myself...it will make a great "shop truck" look. Its super durable paint ...crap its made for the under belly of tractors!...
like I said it isnt a shiny glamorous paint job yet I think it will have a cool look...there just aren't that many 65 f100s around here especially flat black lowered sitting on 18s and 20s.
There are three that I have seen...poop brown, red, and a grey one...none of which are sitting pretty and there fancy paint jobs are mostly faded esp. the red one. which is for sale with a sign saying it was paint 2 years ago...and its already faded. bet that cost more than 24 bucks a gallon. The guy with the gray truck works in a body shop now his truck is super straight...paint is decent but on one side it has scratches... he said he was going to have to repaint the whole truck because the metallic paint was a custom mix...just to fix some hefty scratches where he dropped something out of the bed on to the sides... you can say what you want to about cheap flat black...but at least if I scratch it. I can repaint the panel! JD Blitz black even has a touch up pen from JD! lol cant beat that. its like it was meant to go on a truck. I think it is going to be the way for me to go... and paint a shop logo on the doors or something...ton of chrome and a new wood bed and interior.. its going to be nice.

That corvair looks nice...it looks like alot of work though...
gangstakr great looking truck.. what kind of paint did you use?
I havent made up my mind completely about the john deere blitz black...
Ive seen a lot of people who have used it and it seems to hold up nicely..
dunno..gonna keep looking and asking around.
gangstakr... love to know how you did your headliner.

is that an epoxy primer? or just a rattle can type primer.
Ive heard that primers can sponge up water and cause rust...
my bed has some primer on parts. and it happened there in one year...
where rust came through the primer. not bad I was able to wire brush it down to metal
and re shoot it ... but i figured there has to be some form of rust preventative to leave it in primer? This was one reason I was going for the blitz black.
